An inspirational job

As a young teacher in north Queensland our friend Mike Rimmer was tasked with writing a quick brochure about the history of the town of Ravenshoe. Forty years later his little brochure has become a three volume history of the Cairns hinterland.

Up the Palmerston is a wonderful, accessible history (illustrated by the author's own photographs) of the colourful residents, abandoned mining centres, country towns and the beautiful north Queensland landscape.

It's been such an honor to help Mike publish his life's work and to document the rich and colourful history of this part of Australia. Mike inspired generations of students - and it's easy to see why.
